so not nearly as old but, this is a 12th century stave church in lom, norway (one of less than 40 left in the world)
it’s hard to see, but in the top left corner of this photo where the light comes in from the window, there’s a runic inscription
these photos show it more clearly, it’s easier to see in person. so of course one of the people i was travelling with asked what it said, and we were told it basically translates to:
“on this day, I climbed to this point, in the corner of the church”
He was Camilo Catrillanca, an innocent man killed by the Police and the Government. The Mapuche people have been fighting for more than 400 years for Chile to return their ancestral lands, but the government has only responded with violence, getting more militarized police in places where innocent and unarmed people live and seek to work the land to survive.
The police and the government have invented a supposed theft of vehicles to justify the murder of this young man. He was innocent, he was on his way home and the police shot him in the back. He is the 16 victim at the hands of the Government and Police, how many more will have to die for they to leave them alone and return their lands?
Today, the “destroyed videos” emerged and it’s clear that he was innocent. It hurts my soul that the people who fight for their rights are being killed like this. He only wanted the lands that the state stoled to his people twice, when the state was conformed and when the reduction system was conformed. The government still protects the 1% of the people of this country, the ones who really have the power and the money to end with us all.
The Grim Reaper isn’t a bad guy at all. it’s not like he killed us, he is just accompanying us when we are at our loneliest, which makes him a really, really nice guy.
